Alfa Romeo Alfasud was the first ever production car commissioned to the newborn Italdesign, in 1971.
Since then, the company has been responsible for the design of more than 60 million cars produced worldwide. Over the last 50 years, it has been working with all of the most important, international OEMs and has been recognized as a very innovative partner in terms of styling and engineering.
Italdesign's experience in Exclusive Series for production dates back to the 70s and has recently renewed with the establishment of proprietary brand Automobili Speciali and the Ultra-Limited Series Production Department.
Italdesign patented the four wheel drive solution which was implemented on the Fiat Panda 4x4 in 1980. FIAT purchased it immediately after the 1980 Turin Motor Show, allowing the production in 1983. Lancia Delta Integrale was based upon the very same patent. Italdesign kept on working on this solution ever since.
Many of Italdesign styled, designed or engineered mass-produced vehicles have become worldwide bestsellers. Car models like VW Golf 1, Fiat Panda, Lancia Delta, BMW M1, Maserati Quattroporte, Fiat Punto, Alfa Romeo Brera have changed the automotive history forever and some of them are still in production.
