The “Contessa” won the Gold Industrial Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) 2004 co-sponsored by IDSA (Industrial Designers Society of America) and Business Week.
Whilst retaining the facets of state-of-the-art ergonomic standards, the design of the Okamura chair projects sleek, elegant and at the same time aggressive forms, which set them aside from the classical office furniture pack, thereby inferring a powerful identity to the chair.
The futuristic backrest incorporates a synchro-reclining mechanism so that it can be easily adjusted backward or forward to suit seating preferences.
