The watch developed for D1 Milano, designed by Giugiaro Design, Italdesign’s historic brand draws directly from a world where speed, precision and aesthetics are intertwined.
The case reflects that thinking. Its asymmetrical form is defined by irregular polished facets set against brushed surfaces, creating a shifting play of light across the watch. The edges are not uniform. The surface changes direction. And the result is a form that feels dynamic, even at rest.
The dial introduces a more technical layer. An inner ring features 120 micro-teeth, with two markings for each second. This detail adds a precise, mechanical rhythm to the surface, reinforcing the sense of movement within the design. Red accents on the hands act as a clear point of contrast, a recognizable detail within Giugiaro Design’s visual language.
The watch maintains a slim profile, measuring 40mm in diameter and 7mm in thickness, allowing it to sit close and comfortably on the wrist. The crown is positioned at 4 o’clock, improving ergonomics while contributing to the watch’s distinctive character.
The bracelet shifts the feel of the piece. A Milanese mesh construction introduces a softer, more fluid texture, balancing the sharper geometry of the case. Its fine structure brings a subtle vintage reference, while remaining precise in execution.
The caseback is engraved with the Giugiaro Design logo, marking the collaboration and its design heritage. The packaging, developed by Italdesign, completes the project, extending the same design approach beyond the watch itself.
