The exceptional flexibility and scalability of the Volkswagen Group’s MEB (Modular E-Antriebs-Baukasten) electric modular platform was the starting point for Italdesign’s EVX study. The 3D Proportion Study, presented in holographic visualization, investigates balance, overall proportions, and the design potential of a concept based on the MEB+ Front Drive architecture, and within the new Electric Urban Car Family, focusing on adaptability for OEMs outside the Volkswagen Group.

Key Highlights

EVX is a 3D proportion study developed by Italdesign as part of a design research initiative commissioned by Volkswagen Platform Business. Based on the MEB+ Front Drive architecture, EVX explores new volumes and proportions beyond current VW models, aiming to offer adaptable solutions for OEMs outside the Group. The 2+2 coupé, three-door study, measuring 4.23 meters in length, 1.82 in width, and 1.49 in height, with a 2.6-meter wheelbase, is not intended for production or linked to a specific OEM, but rather serves to demonstrate the flexibility of the MEB platform. The project reflects Italdesign’s agile and holistic design approach, showcasing the advanced capabilities of its CAS Team and, above all, its active role within the Volkswagen Group as a bridge between the Group and external OEMs, able to enhance proprietary technologies in diversified contexts.
