At the International Battery Summit 2026, in Jakarta on August 26, Davide Casini, Chief Technical Officer of Italdesign, will present the company’s perspective on the challenges shaping the next phase of electric mobility.
At the heart of his keynote speech, Driving the Energy Transition: Shaping Vehicles, Development and Customer Experience, is the conviction that the transition to electric mobility requires a holistic approach, one capable of integrating multidisciplinary expertise and extending far beyond battery technology alone.
A central theme of the presentation will be in fact the ongoing shift of complexity from individual components to the vehicle system as a whole. The evolution of electric mobility demands new vehicle architecture, an increasing reliance on software, new validation processes, and ever more sophisticated energy management strategies. In this context, the next challenge is no longer the advancement of individual technologies, but the ability to manage the complexity created by the convergence of multiple technologies.
“Electrification itself is not the challenge, nor is the transition to electric mobility simply a matter of replacing an internal combustion engine with an electric motor. The real challenge is managing complexity and transforming it into a simple and intuitive experience for the end user. This requires rethinking the vehicle, its development process, and the overall user experience.
