A hybrid became a supercar to promote a new approach to designing an eco-friendly car of the future. The study was dedicated to Alessandro Volta, the talented Italian physicist who invented the battery.<\/p>\n

The Toyota Alessandro Volta <\/b>displayed features of mid-engined models <\/b>of the past such as the BMW Nazca<\/b>, Alfa Romeo Schighera <\/b>and the Volkswagen W12 <\/b>to demonstrate the fact that if a racing<\/b> shape<\/b> is able to accommodate an innovative<\/b> and ‘clean<\/b>‘ propulsion system<\/b>, the scope for conceiving and designing<\/b> the low environmental impact saloons <\/b>and compact cars <\/b>of the future<\/b> is enormous.<\/p>\n

The Volta<\/b> was powered by a derivative<\/b> of the hybrid system <\/b>of the Lexus RX 400 <\/b>with a 3.3 litre V6 engine<\/b> positioned on the back of the rear axle, not connected directly to the wheels. The drive was guaranteed by two electric motors<\/b>, one per axle, for a 4\u00d74 drive <\/b>and greater safety<\/b>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
