A niche car designed for a youthful audience, with an eye to cutting production costs.<\/p>\n

The 1996 edition of the Geneva Motor Show <\/b>saw the debut of the Formula project<\/b>: a niche car<\/b> for a youthful audience <\/b>with a decidedly unusual design<\/b>.<\/p>\n

The fully equipped floorpan<\/b>, mechanicals<\/b> and upholstery<\/b> were covered by a fit-over body<\/b>, a complementary shell<\/b> fitted over the sills<\/b> (the fastening and removal manoeuvre was aided by an electric pulse). The doors<\/b> had disappeared. The base rested on a running board <\/b>with a pioneering flavour, a flap<\/b> was pulled up and the top fitted into the channel.<\/p>\n

When not all the four bucket seats <\/b>(protected by individual roll-bars<\/b>) were filled, the unoccupied seats<\/b> could be covered. By changing the design<\/b> of the upper shell<\/b>, the Formula 4<\/b> could be converted to a roadster<\/b>, leisure-time<\/b> car<\/b>, pick-up<\/b>, van<\/b> and more, making use of plastic<\/b> forming processes that required different moulds<\/b> and minimal investments<\/b>.<\/p>\n

The Formula 4<\/b> is produced on a Fiat Bravo floorpan <\/b>and is fitted with a 2000 cc<\/b>, HGT 5 cylinder 147 HP engine<\/b>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
