{"id":1715,"date":"1999-01-15T22:09:25","date_gmt":"1999-01-15T20:09:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.italdesign.it\/project\/copenhagen-metro\/"},"modified":"2024-10-21T17:12:53","modified_gmt":"2024-10-21T15:12:53","slug":"copenhagen-metro","status":"publish","type":"project","link":"https:\/\/www.italdesign.it\/en\/project\/copenhagen-metro\/","title":{"rendered":"Copenhagen Metro"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>AnsaldoBreda and Giugiaro Design worked side by side in a project focused around the Metro&#8217;s &#8220;mixed&#8221; train (underground and fly-over), which links Copenhagen to the\u00a0Amger island and Orestad.<\/p>\n<p><b>H1 &gt; <\/b>Project: Copenhagen Metro &#8211; 1999 &#8211; Italdesign<\/p>\n<p><b>P &gt; <\/b>The <b>fully automatic driverless train<\/b> has been created for <b>moving<\/b> lots of <b>passengers<\/b> across short distances in the <b>Metro<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>The <b>seats<\/b> face each other except at the ends of the <b>train<\/b> where they are in rows so passengers can look out of the <b>large front windows<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>Easily <b>recognizable<\/b>, the <b>train<\/b> reflects the fundamental <b>minimalist-design philosophy<\/b>. The train&#8217;s <b>interior<\/b> evokes the colors embracing the <b>Danish landscape<\/b>. A <b>landscape<\/b> filled with <b>lakes<\/b> and endless stretches of <b>birch trees<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Comfortable<\/b>, <b>spacious<\/b> and <b>futuristic<\/b> in look, the <b>train<\/b> features <b>walk-through<\/b> cars thereby ensuring that <b>disabled persons <\/b>can use the <b>Metro<\/b> in the same way as everyone else. Since all seats are <b>wall-mounted<\/b>, the <b>floor<\/b> is free of <b>support legs <\/b>and thus easier to keep clean. On <b>design<\/b> completion, a <b>real scale mock-up <\/b>was requested by the <b>Technical Committee <\/b>designated by the <b>Danish municipality<\/b>. In order to ease transportation from Moncalieri to Copenhagen, the mock-up was built in <b>detachable modular sections<\/b>. Reassembled and put on show in a square right in the heart of the Danish capital, the mock-up was exhibited for <b>public viewing <\/b>and <b>suggestions<\/b>,\u00a0 taken into account when defining
