In July 2001 Italdesign Industrial Division and Alenia Spazio cooperated to design\u00a0the ISS (International Space Station) Italian Habitation Module.<\/p>\n

As a result of adopting pleasing and pastel surfacing finishes <\/b>in a design<\/b> to put in place a soft<\/b>, albeit<\/b> fully compliant<\/b>, atmosphere<\/b>, the module’s “living quarters” were differentiated by the general effect pushed through by technological paneling <\/b>(racks<\/b>, electronic<\/b> equipment<\/b> display<\/b> panels<\/b>\u2026).<\/p>\n

Community living-quarters <\/b>and conversation space <\/b>were extracted by pulling down an in-built partition surface plane<\/b>. Around the island-shaped<\/b> “table<\/b>” thus extracted, the astronauts<\/b> can remain “seated<\/b>” anchoring their feet to a rod placed below; set within the community living quarters <\/b>is a porthole where some of the best views <\/b>of Earth<\/b> will be. Applied to some partitions are boiserie endowing, as such, a much “warmer” tone than metal<\/b> and plastic<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Containing the “comforts<\/b>” of home are separate living-quarters <\/b>“reserved<\/b>” for sleeping<\/b>, listening to music<\/b>, surfing<\/b> the Web<\/b> and communicating with the family back home. These are ‘fenced<\/b>‘ by differing colors, thereby personalizing the relax areas <\/b>used by four astronauts<\/b> on a shift basis<\/b>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
