The Volkswagen that beat all the world speed records, covering a distance of 7740.576 km at an average speed of 322.891 km\/h.<\/p>\n

On 23 February 2002, a W12 coup\u00e9 <\/b>took the world record<\/b> for all speed<\/b> classes over 24 hours over the Nard\u00f2<\/b> high-speed<\/b> circuit<\/b> (Lecce), covering a distance of 7740.576 km at an average speed <\/b>of 322.891 km\/h.<\/p>\n

Volkswagen<\/b>\u2018s aims were to analyse the general<\/b> potential<\/b> of the chassis<\/b> and mechanical configuration<\/b>, but above all the level<\/b> of sturdiness<\/b> and reliability<\/b> of a 12 cylinder engine<\/b> (with capacity and power increased to 5998 cc and 600 hp compared to the Syncro and Roadster models) with an extraordinary low weight: just 239 kg.<\/p>\n
