“One of the loveliest, most fascinating automobiles ever built”, Compasso d’oro 2004.<\/p>\n

For the Alfa Romeo Brera<\/b>, Giorgetto Giugiaro <\/b>set out to look within himself, fine-tuning the concept<\/b> of a contemporary<\/b>, elegant<\/b>, refined<\/b> and essential car <\/b>that could stand as the quintessence of the brand<\/b> and its history<\/b> and express technological<\/b> development, though compressed into an almost intimate and discreet blend<\/b>: the very requirements of elegance<\/b> and classicism<\/b>, of objects that are designed to last in time.<\/p>\n

The body was all in carbon fibre <\/b>\u2013 and its content \u2013 a powerful mid front engine<\/b> with eight cylinders<\/b> in a 90 \u00b0 V, offering more than 4000 cm3 and 400 HP.<\/p>\n

The only hedonistic touch was a door opening<\/b>, operated by a patented joint that projects the door up when turned outward; the lower centre of rotation (flush with the lower door) makes it possible to reduce the height<\/b> of the open door so that it protrudes by just 360 mm from the car<\/b>\u2019s bulk, a measurement that would not allow a passenger<\/b> to emerge with a conventional door<\/b>.<\/p>\n

The prototype<\/b> was so successful that the Alfa Romeo <\/b>decided to take the Brera<\/b> into production and adopt the lines of the front end as a common family look <\/b>for Alfa cars <\/b>produced during the 2000s.<\/p>\n
