The study was dedicated to Alessandro Volta, the talented Italian physicist who invented the battery.<\/p>\n<p>The <b>Toyota Alessandro Volta <\/b>displayed features of <b>mid-engined models <\/b>of the past such as the <b>BMW Nazca<\/b>,<b> Alfa Romeo Schighera <\/b>and the <b>Volkswagen W12 <\/b>to demonstrate the fact that if a <b>racing<\/b> <b>shape<\/b> is able to accommodate an <b>innovative<\/b> and &#8216;<b>clean<\/b>&#8216; <b>propulsion system<\/b>, the scope for conceiving and <b>designing<\/b> the <b>low environmental impact saloons <\/b>and <b>compact cars <\/b>of the <b>future<\/b> is enormous.<\/p>\n<p>The <b>Volta<\/b> was powered by a <b>derivative<\/b> of the <b>hybrid system <\/b>of the <b>Lexus RX 400 <\/b>with a <b>3.3 litre V6 engine<\/b> positioned on the back of the rear axle, not connected directly to the wheels. The drive was guaranteed by <b>two electric motors<\/b>, one per axle, for a <b>4\u00d74 drive <\/b>and greater <b>safety<\/b>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A hybrid became a supercar to promote a new approach to designing an eco-friendly car of the future.
