This hatchback saloon replaced the “9” and “11” models and was designed to increase export shares in this segment.

The 19 and was created in close cooperation with the Renault style centre and engineering department with the clear aim of overcoming the severe financial crisis suffered by the French manufacturer.
The shape of the Renault 19 is not revolutionary but it conveys a clear message: it is powerful, youthful, well-placed on the road and its smooth lines symbolise quality and fluidity.
Compared to the 21, prismatic shapes are abandoned in favour of aerodynamics, which reached a Cd of 0.30 in this case.
